Well, it's a fact that about 30,000 people are killed with guns every year in the US. This is a serious problem by any measure. Although this particular kind of shooting is rare, to the extent that it focuses attention on the problem of gun violence, that attention can be welcome. In the same way that sometimes when a celebrity encounters a situation it can get more attention, while it's neglected when it "just" happens to thousands of ordinary people.
