Synopsis |
Various guest artists will come to the class and discuss their work and also give the students creative guidance on developing art work, how the artist uses their cultural knowledge for inspiration, the iconography of Native American art forms and how they are used as expressing knowledge. |
Description of Class |
Various artists will visit with students, work with them on projects and discuss how they create their art forms and how they have developed a style that expresses who they are and how it reflects their Native American heritage. |
Primary Educational Objective |
For students to gain an understanding of how artists are inspired by their environment, their language and cultural worldview. |
Additional Concepts and Skills |
Students will learn about various mediums artists use (pottery, 2-D, digital media) |
Assessment |
Artists will play a key role in helping students concept their virtual worlds. |
Classroom Activities |
Discussions, presentations and hands-on work with artists. |
Homework Assignments |
Students should write a one-to-two page journal entry on each artist. |

This will vary depending on what the artists wants the students to do. |
