2.5 classes (3.75 hours)

Synopsis

Students learn the movie making related tools and processes in Corel Painter and create 2D flipbook animations which will then be  incorporated into the virtual world.

Description of Class

Students are introduced to the movie tools and file structures for creating animations.

                         

The instructor demonstrates a set of tools and procedures while the students observe. Then the students try them out. The process is repeated for the next set of tools. 

 

Concepts of craftsmanship are observed and practiced. 

 

Time is allotted for questions and review.

To understand and practice 2D animation using the Corel Painter movie tools.

Assessment

Evaluate the animations for interesting motion interpretation, execution, and craftsmanship.

Classroom Activities

Create Frame Stacks and paint a sequence of images with small changes between the sequential frames.

Homework Assignments

Create a very short animation using hand drawn or painted cells.

The animation should be of a gesture, action, or emotion. It should

have 16 frames with a playback speed of approximately 8 frames per

second so the finished animation is approximately 2 seconds. Very

quick!
