Corel Painter - Painting

3 classes (4.5 hours)

Synopsis

Students go further in their mastery of Corel Painter with the painting tools, and mix colors and create surface textures and imagery for use in the virtual environment.

Description of Class

Students are introduced to the color mixing models for digital color mixing. They are introduced to the collection of brushes and media represented in Corel Painter, they explore the abstraction of textures in nature by painting them.

                         

The instructor demonstrates a set of tools and procedures while the students observe. Then the students try them out. The process is repeated for the next set of tools.

 

Concepts of craftsmanship are observed and practiced. 

 

Time is allotted for questions and review.

To understand and practice using the tools and procedures for mixing colors and painting textures and images.

Assessment

Evaluate the mixer pads, palettes, and texture images for depth of exploration.

Classroom Activities

Mix colors using the mixer pad, create palettes, and paint textures to be used as texture maps in the virtual environment.

 

Homework Assignments

Create three mixer pads and palettes:

   Blues for sky and water

   Browns for rocks, ground, fur

   Greens for plants

Paint three textures using one each of the three palletes: blues, browns, and greens.
