Students are given a hands-on introduction to digital audio recording and editing. |
Description of Class |
There are three components to this lesson: studio recording, field recording, and digital audio editing. In the first class, students are introduced to recording studio equipment, including microphones, mixers, outboard audio processing gear, and digital audio recording software. They are given the opportunity to record audio for their VR projects (e.g., sound effects, songs, stories, etc.). In the second class, students are introduced to field recording equipment and are given the opportunity to make recordings in a non-studio environment (e.g., natural sounds, on-location interviews, etc.). In the third class, they are introduced to digital audio editing software (such as Audacity), and are shown how to edit the recordings they made in classes one and two. |
