On Tuesday, Aug. 30, all SCF systems (Twister, et al, and the Linux Cluster) will be down for a 2 hour maintenance beginning at 10:00am. During this time, we will update system software and compilers on the IBM/AIX machines. The new C, C++, and Fortran compilers provide a complete OpenMP, version 2 implementation, integrated MASS support, and many bug fixes. Please see the following web pages for detailed information. C/C++: http://www-306.ibm.com/software/awdtools/xlcpp/features/aix/xlcpp-aix.html Fortran: http://www-306.ibm.com/software/awdtools/fortran/xlfortran/features/aix/xlf-aix.html Since the maintenance window is short and there is a lot of work to do, we will actually perform the software updates on some of the batch machines during the week prior to the scheduled downtime. Since the new software is backward compatible with the old software we don't expect this to cause any problems. If you do notice anything unusual, please let us know as soon as possible. Please send questions and report problems to bugs@twister.bu.edu. --SCV Sysadmins
