Tom Coffin, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, School of the Art Institute in Chicago and the Electronic Visualization Lab at the University of Illinois in Chicago is currently the Alliance Liaison for Virtual Environments at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) in Champaign, Illinois.

Artist's Statement:

Tom Coffin's pieces in Spirited Ruins reflect a juxtaposition of forms held together through the act of symmetrical movement. In deconstructing the notion of beauty, we are left with the stunning revelation that symmetry and repetition of pattern is the essence of human aesthetics.
