Subject: HiPArt works at SC Global this week
Boston University is participating in SC Global at SC01 (Supercomputing 2001)
in Denver, Colorado this week. Through the Access Grid, members of
the Boston University community will be able to attend three days of
presentations at BU's Access Grid Conference Facility at 111 Cummington
Street, room B-17.
Three HiPArt (High Performance Computing in the Arts) pieces including
works by SFA members will be featured: "Tracer" by Deborah and Richard
Cornell, "Soft, Fluffy, and Virtual" by Cindy Ludlam, and "Spirited Ruins".
Several other arts related sessions originating from other parts of the
world will also be shown.
Over the Access Grid, groups of visitors at sites around the world can
interact with both the art works and with each other through digital
video streams, speech, audio, and other input methods.
Boston University is one of 35 institutions worldwide participating in
SC Global. SC Global will use Access Grid technology to link dozens of
Access Grid sites around the world with the Supercomputing 2001
conference in Denver. The Supercomputing conference is the premiere
technical and industrial meeting for high-end networking and computing
and computational science.
HiPArt is an outreach program coordinated by the Scientific Computing
and Visualization group at Boston University, fostering a collaboration
between software developers and artists and making high performance
computing, networking, and graphics resources available to the art
community.
